Re: Medtronics Spinal Cord Stimulator
Posted by Sandy DeBord on 7/13/08
I had a neurostimulator implanted in 2003. After 3 years of additional pain caused by bumping it on everything coming and going and it not helping at all with my pain, I had it removed in 2006. Only the main unit itself was removed at that time. The leads were cracked and so entangled in muscle tissue that they just left them. Then, last June (2007), I had my 6th back surgery in order to remove all previously placed hardware and those leads. That surgery (17 inch incision) has left me disabled at 41 years old. I'm finally just mad that 3 of the 6 surgeries involved the Medtronic neurostimulator. Like a few of you have stated, my original rep was great, but then I couldn't find anyone to adjust it for 2 years. When I finally did, they said that they couldn't get the paddle to react as it should - now I know because of the cracked leads. I'm interested in joining any class action suit that may come of this. I thought I was alone until I saw the recent legal ad about the defib unit - that's when I decided to do a little research.
