My ladder broke identically in 2011. My daughter, on her way up, the
ladder broke and she fell off. Hinge on lowest hinged portion (final
three steps that touch the ground) broke on the right side. Locks
have never worked properly. The right one always pops out.

Called Werner and they claim that since this was a product of the
*Old* Werner company before they were bought out by the *new* company,
they are taking no responsibility for the ladder. To be *good guys*
(and to probably buy my silence), they offered to send me $100 Home
depot / Lowes Gift card so that I could *buy* another of their ladders
which is selling for $169. Werner stopped manufacturing the ladder
when the company folded in 2005. The S2210 Mk 1 ladder is no longer
made, nor has replacement parts from Werner.
