Post: Werner Attic Ladder S2200 Series

Werner recently changed this ladder's design to eliminate
the gear/rack arrangement to compress the struts that
provide lift assist. The metal frame was changed to wood
and it's shipped with pre-compressed struts. I found out
the hard way that the 3 safety stops that hold the rack's
position (on the prior design) until it's completely
compressed don't work so well. The teeth on the rack
severed my finger when it released. I was wondering if
anyone knows how to find out why Werner eliminated this
from their design recently, other than the obvious path of
discovery. Not sure I want to go that route yet. Thanks
