I was seriously injured due to a Werner ladder failure. I was
using a 10 ft Werner
fiberglass ladder and one of the legs broke inward and I fell
to
a concrete floor and suffered a severe closed head trauma and
broke both arms above the wrist. I now have titanium plates in
both arms, suffer from cataplexy, narcolopsy, sleep apnea,
dizziness, slurred speech, headaches, memory loss, and numerous
problems. I was in trauma intensive care for 7 days and have
had
multiple surgeries and still cannot use my right hand. I was
out
of work for 3 months following the fall and lost my job due to
the absence. The fiberglass rails on my ladder splintered due
to
UV disintegration of the fiberglass. This was a known defect in
the Werner ladders and they are still selling these ladders. I
owned my ladder for 10 years and stored it underneath the eaves
of my house, out of the sun. The ladder literally shot across
the
room and I fell 12 feet. I weigh 230 lbs. and the ladder was
rated for 300 lbs. I was not above the recommended step on the
ladder. My complaint is that Werner and Lowes have not
nationally
and publically announced this danger because it would probably
hurt their sales.
