i cannot tell you the hell ive gone through with this
    implant. the trial
gave me great relief and i thought my suffering was over.
    ive lived with
left side leg pain for 20 years now. i became disabled (SS)
    in mar. 2005.
i went to the pain clinic @ university of chicago where
    they recomemded a
trial to see if it would help. i got rid of 80-90% of the
    pain during the
trial. then, with out warning, the trial unit stopped
    working. i was told
being the leads were externally implanted, this could
    sometimes occur.
they assured me that the placement of the perminant leads
    would be in the
same areas and i should not worry. my implant surgery was
    on 12/20/09. i
never could obtain even 50% of my trial relief. to make
    matters worse,
after surgery, my weight crashed 25 lbs!the area just above
    my left side
abdominal area, slightly below the belt line, rubs against
    the module
which is now only about an 1/8" from the surface of my
    skin. it is very
vulnerable to impacts and moves under the skin! im told
    that there is no
where else to put it because i guess im not fat or
    overweight! now im
frightened because the lead removal was said to be risky at
    the time of
have surgery. now im told to just come in and get it
    removed like pulling
a tooth! i already have a mass of scar tissue in that area.
    other doctors
warn that the pain could be worse or possibly cause
    perminate loss of
feeling or use of my leg. no one wants to touch me! help me
    please. it
cost $110,000 and over $8000 out of our savings for this.
    im not rich,
but our family tries hard to keep up.
