    Post: Spinal Cord Stimulator

Posted by Jennifer Pearl Gordon on 7/06/10

I was unaware that the pain I am in after having my
stimulator implanted in 1997 had anything to do with the
product. I assumed that what my pain management doctor was
telling me was the truth and that all of my problems after
the stimulator was implanted was because of my failed back
syndrome. I injured my back at work in 1998 and eventually
had to havd a lamenectomy and then a spinal fusion for a
while the fustion worked but then the spasms in both legs
and the lower back pain returned. I was so tired of
hurting and the pain management doctor I had left the
practice so I got a new physician. I had never heard of a
spinal cord stimulator before seeing this doctor and
believe me I have had my share and I worked in the medical
field for over twenty years. Because my pain was so
intense and I knew that I could not stand another
injection in my back and was tired of the morphine. So my
new doctor told my I would be a good canidate for the
stimulator I now know that I am not. It took forever
getting it programed and getting use to the stimulation
almost drove me crazy. And then my real problems started I
got neuropathy in both feet my primary doctor just knew I
was diabetic after I was diagnosed but I am not. Living
with neuropathy at 52yrs old is horrible my nerves in both
feet are restricting 24hrs a day, one foot is either
burning across my toes. The leads around my spine have
caused my body to bend in the pelvic area and my doctor
impanted a battery so big in my right hip that I had to
have a revision. Of course I had to get a new doctor to do
the revision and now I have a smaller battery in my
stomach area and I will never get use to having it
implanted because it rolls whenever I move. Now my right
leg have started to spasm so badly that I compare them to
labor pains the stimulator is not controlling the spasms
and that is scary. I am unable to turn the stimulator up
because the vibration causes me pain in my lower back. My
family and friends have mentioned to me that I got worst
after having the stimulator implanted and I never
associated my failure to strive with a defect in the
equipment. If anyone know of any attorney's in Florida.
