Post: Werner 6ft step ladder collapse
Posted by Russell Pickard on 1/29/12
On April 3rd 2010 I was working from a 6 ft fiberglass ladder made by Werner and sold at LOWES. It has a 225lb weight limit, (I weigh 175lbs) I was on the fourth step and removing stucco from a ceiling when BOTH of the support side legs folded OUT about 16inches from the floor, the fiberglass just splintered and folded which in turn threw me resulting in a torn meniscus which in turn resulted in 2 surgeries and being off work for a year and a half. The ladder was stored inside and was less than 2 years old. I have had an in person deposition with Werner Lawyers and also filled out a 30 question written deposition about 2 months ago, the workers comp end of it is about to be settled but I have no idea what is going to transpire with the personal injury case, but I assure you that me searching for other cases involving Werner Ladders has enlightened me to the fact that it Werner DOES have issues with the safety of their equipment. Anyone else out there experience this type of issue with Werner made ladders? If so I would like to hear from you, russ_pick@yahoo.com
