On feb. 5 2013 I had a trial stimulator put in and was fine . So march 8 2013 had my permanent put in at the hughston hosp in colombus ga. We'll it wasn't even a week and started having swelling at thoracic area. Straw like fluid kept coming out. And lots of pressure and discomfort noted in that area. I called the nurse at the hughston clinic she immediately put me on antibotics and told me to keep my follow up appt for the following week. Went to my follow up appt . The doctor told me he had to take me back into surgery. It was really swelled at the incision site and around the thoracic. I went in 2 days later. Stayed 4 days . Had 3 surgeries that go around. On April 22 2013. I was at my follow up appt. still with complications. This time I had to go back up to hughston hospital this time I had emergency surgery. I had to have my stimulator taken out. Had to stay in hosp for 7 days. Had 4 surgeries within that week. The cultures came back that I had a infection . Mrsa in my spine. I was horrified. As a nurse I new Mrsa us everywhere , when u catch in the spine something went wrong. Well it's a year later I am on constant pain pills with pain over half of my body. See I have rsd/crps. And the stimulator was suppose to help that. Now I am on heavy duty narcotics. Can't work been out of work for several years. I have a severe back problem too. And I developed rsd after my first back surgery by another doc in 2009. I didn't get diagnosed intill 2010. Now docs are scared of me because if the Mrsa. They don't want to even try another stimulator. Even my pain doc . Any way I hope my statement can help in any way. If u have any more questions u can reach me at 850- 557- 0114. Thank u
