My fiancée is 48 years old and has been on prednisone for
over 4 years. When he started going to his last doctor, he
asked her to get him off of it. She didn't and prescribed
large daily doses (about 80 mgs) and after 2 years of seeing
her and requesting something else, he noticed pain in his
right hip. After demanding it to be looked at a few times,
they finally agreed to an MRI. He was told by the Orthopedic
doctor they sent him to that his hip needed to be replaced
due to avascular necrosis. He then went to another
Orthopedic surgeon for a 2nd opinion and again was told it
had to be replaced for the same reason. The first Ortho
doctor told us straight out it was from the prednisone.
Then this doctor told us she could not help us anymore and
to go somewhere else!
