Post: Clauses in old land deeds reserving cemetery ownership

When one sees the following clauses in an old 1700s land
deed in North Carolina what do they mean? Do they mean the
old cemeteries remain the property of the seller?

“reserving the burying ground where my father and others are
laid” and "excepting twenty foot square being a burying place."
