Re: Criminal Law in Louisiana

Of course I meant: We do need 'intervention' most likely against all parishes. Nobody had to pay me-- I am a citizen here in LA with a brother who just got the death penalty- for four years we have been going to court and fighting the justice system just to uphold his constitutional rights to a proper defense and fair trial- I sympathize for anybody in LA that expects our judicial system to provide them with a 'fair' defense. It does not happen. 2.5 years into pretrial motions- the judge was going to discuss funding for the defense 2 weeks before the trial date- there had been no witnesses spoken to outside of myself- no experts appointed- a letter of intervention was sent to LA ACLU with a mirage of complaints. Within 2 days of receipt, a new attorney was appointed. 6 months down the line- back in court discussing funding, this time all the big dogs were present- again 3 weeks before trial. The Judge still did not care about funding, but the upper courts ruled against him and his judicial administrators had a long talk with him. Trial was delayed again, and boy was that judge in the courtroom trying to cover himself the following court date. This is but one example of what I have seen. Because of funding and other political issues- there is another person sitting in prison 7-8 years now waiting for a death penalty trial in the same parish. Why the law itself can break people's constitutional rights is no longer beyond me. It is LA politics as usual. I can only pray someone as vocal as Hardy will assist and speak out to those in authority that can do something about it. Personally, I will be asking those that run fro Governor to address the Judicial issues- again this election. Amen.
