Re: Court Reporting student looking for writer and software

Dear Christine, Congratulations on becoming a Court Reporter. I have been one for 13 years, and really enjoy it. The advice I wanted to give you is, if you can't afford the machine and the software, just get your machine. I got mine on credit and made monthly payments until it was paid off. And use a scopist in the meantime. You will save time having to transcribe everything, and will be able to take more jobs. Find a good reliable scopist who has experience. Call the firms and talk to other reporters and see who they use. Once you start getting paid on your bill outs and the money starts coming in, you will be able to afford Eclipse. That is a very good software. Or find out what reporters have bought new equipment and wouldn't mind selling you their used equipment. They will benefit and so will you. Good luck!! Irene
