Often times students find studying Court Reporting to be very challenging and often choose to reevaluate their desire to pursue this career. The purchase of a $5000+ machine should come after you've reached the 100 level speeds. This is not to discourage you in anyway, but to help you make a sound decision. Check to see what type of writer comes with your schools package. You may be surprised that it has many of the features of the more expensive writers without the costs. You can still trade up for a newer machine once you've determined that this great field is for you.
