I just bought open StenoCat (4.6). It is not compatable with
StenoCat 32. Here's the info.
Jim forwarded me this message since he doesn’t handle the
software. Do you know what version of StenoCAT you
purchased? That could make a huge difference.
If your key is “Parallel” (meaning it plugs into the old
printer ports), then there is no adapter in existence that
we’ve encountered that will work with them, despite what
software you use. You would need to get a computer that has
a built-in parallel port.
If your software version is Open StenoCAT (normally 4.6),
then you are also limited on speed. You cannot run Open
StenoCAT on any computer more then 233MHz in speed. Today’s
computers run at about 2600MHz (ten times faster) so those
would not work. In addition, the latest version of Windows
that will work with it is Windows 98. This pretty much
limits you to a computer more then 10 years old. Here is one
we sell that is compatible, however there are some “glitches”
such as having to start realtime more then once to get it
going:
ALSO: I have TWO KEYS for Open StenoCat (plus the
software). I paid $140.00. I am hoping to get some of that
wasted money back. If you want the OpenCat keys (TWO), and
the software, I will sell them for $40.00.
