    Thanks all for the feedback. It seems like having a technical
    background and USPTO registration would be an asset, as most
    other lawyers can't say the same. On the other hand, I hear
    decidedly mixed reviews on the prospect of a solo patent
    practice.

    I contemplate the holistic approach...handling all matter of
    IP work including patents, copyrights, trademarks, licensing,
    possibly venture capital, etc. My experience is in the
    software industry, so perhaps a target of small high-tech
    startups.

    Thanks again for the advice. My present non-law job in
    technology pays pretty well...just contemplating how and when
    to make the leap to practice.
