I disagree to an extent. I really think it depends on the
kind of law you practice and the area you live in. For
instance, in a rural area it's not at all unusual for folks to
work out of their houses. And in the cities certain types of
law it wouldn't matter where your office was. One thing to
consider is if you meet with cleints where will you meet with
them? what kind of law are you going to do? You'll need a
place to do depos if you are practicing civil, for example, or
to sign wills if you're doing probate. Be sure that the phone
number for your office is not your personal cell or you'll be
getting lots of calls that you may not want to take at all
hours of the day and night. I know 2 attorneys who work from
their homes and they do quite well with it and believe me, no
one around here thinks any less of them. in fact we envy the
fact that they don't have to get up and slog out to work in
all kinds of nasty weather. the downside is, you feel like
you never get away from work. if you're a self starter and
don't let little things like gardening interfere with your
concentration, you should do fine. I don't so I go to the
    office every day.
    good luck
