For what its worth, I'm on pace to gross between $80-$90 K my first year
solo. In fairness, I don't think I would have had this level of success
right out of law school. I've been practicing for 10 years and have built
a good network of contacts. However, a lot of the work has been generated
by my own efforts getting my name out in local chuch bulletins, senior
centers, etc. I'm also working as assigned counsel for several local
courts making $40/hour representing indigent defendants. The money from
those cases is not great, but it pays my rent/utilities each month.
What's more, several other paying clients retained me while I was at court
handling assigned cases.

Its amazing how motivated you can be to succeed when you have to support a
family.

Rather than attacking the successes of colleagues and/or questioning their
veracity, maybe you should spend more time practicing law. Or maybe
getting out of the practice (if you were ever in it). . .
