If I may put my two cents in, partners have pros and cons. I
wish, almost every day, that I had a trusted partner who
could cover for me when I'm not here, and to pay half the
expenses. On the other hand, I love being in complete
control. I look around my town, and the majority of the law
partnerships have come to a hostile ending, including some
of the venerable, well known firms (albeit by successor
attorneys, not the founding attorneys). I've seen arguments
over who's bringing in more work, who's doing more work,
who's competing with their partners, etc. Pick your partner
with the same care you would pick your spouse, but even then
I guess your odds are only 50%.

My short answer is if you can find a partner who you're on
the same page with, do it. Set up a PC or LLP with fair
restrictions on income and expense sharing.
