Re: legalmatch.com--is it worth it?
Posted by DW on 11/24/07

Without a doubt a good website is the way to go.

I went with a company called Law Tavern Web Services, and I currently have a #1 ranking on
Google for my law firm. The cost for their Pro Plan was around $67 a month, plus the setup
fee was more than reasonable (less than $300).

The thing that blew me away was that the website was up in about 72 hours. A friend of
mine went with them also, and is ranked #1 on Yahoo for his practice area (same deal the
website was up in no time).

The guy that started Law Tavern is a licensed attorney, so he had great insight on the
challenges we face as attorneys looking for a website. About contracting with Google, here's
one of the things I learned when I talked to him about getting a website for my law firm:

There are two primary ways to get your website visible through the search engines: 1)
ranking well in the search engine results and 2) paid sponsor ads, such as Google AdWords. There's advantages to both, but for the most part it comes down to the level of website
competition in your area and the type of law you practice for the most part. However, if you
can get it, you always want to get the free traffic through what's called "organic search
results." Most people tend to click on organic results than sponsored ads, so if you can rank
well you avoid paying for traffic and have higher traffic volume, but it takes time to rank well.
