Post: Thinking of joining a firm

Posted by Paul on 5/17/07
I'm a solo in the Columbus, Ohio area and have been offered an opportunity to join a small general practice firm as an associate. I have 8 years of general experience. The offer on the table is for $75K plus 1/3 of any fees I bring in to the firm, health, 401(k), CLE, parking, and 4 weeks paid vacation. No set hours. No billable requirements. I'm on the fence. I'd be giving up some freedom for security. The base salary isn't great, but I'm confident I'll be able to bring in clients. Any thoughts?
