An attorney who is a friend of a friend called to refer me
a contested divorce/custody matter. At the conclusion of
our conversation, he said he trusted that I'd send him
an "appropriate" referral fee.

Ethical issues aside, what is an "appropriate" referral
fee on a domestic relations case?
