I wish I could answer your specific questions, but I don't
practice in either area. However, I am starting a new 2-man
firm (sorry--not enough business to bring in someone else)
concentrating on employment law and commercial litigation.
Since there are ups and downs in how busy a small firm gets,
I sometimes bring in contract attorneys for busy times or
specific projects. The pay is not what you could get from a
private client, but this kind of work certainly helped me
get through the lean times when I left the big firm. If you
can get with a couple of firms to do contract work
(especially in the areas where you have interest), you can
pick up some always needed cash and maybe learn a bit more
about an area of law about which you aren't really
