Post: Going Solo in Bay Area CA -- Just passed the Bar!!

I am seriously considering going solo right away. I want to
do criminal law, and I've interned at a few of the Bay Area
pubic defender offices. Start up costs aren't too much of a
problem for me since my father has been kind enough to
offer to cover start up costs (he has a successful small
business of his own). I was thinking about hanging a
shingle and taking public defender work from surrounding
counties that contract out their public defense work. My
main concern is the fact that I do not know a single person
who went solo straight out of law school, and most of my
professors said I was crazy for even thinking about it.
Anybody know whether or not this is possible in the Bay
Area??? Thanks.
