Hi My name is Lisa , my family and I purchased a home in 2001. WIthin a year we had a leak into our kitchen from the upstairs shower pan. We noticed mold Growth our Insurance Company came out and said OK remediate. We own a restoration company does Fire, Water and mold and Reconstruction, as we contained and packed up my entire kitchen, had no where to cook as so forth, we noticed as we removed the kitchen flooring that went into the foyer that there were more water issues and sub flooring had been cutout and replaced and had mold all over it. As we continued we pulled carpeting to find that the $24,000 the previous owner spent putting new windows and doors in were leaking as well. By the 3rd year at the age of 36 I suffered a stroke losing my right side. In three months time I regained the use of my right side. Now living in my $2,300.00 a month home practically gutted, I was laying on a matress on the floor eating anything u could cook in the microwave. My children suffered the same and had chronic nose bleeds and headaches. The same year I had my stroke my mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer and died within the year. THe next year same month I had a second stroke but knew what it was and got to the emergency room on time. We moved out of our home and into my parents. Upon my mothers death the house that we built for them my father moved back to Florida and let us rent it. Now we had investment propertys and were trying to build a retirement my son was getting ready to graduate and go to college, we were ready. We have 5 mortgages, all the electric and water bills.Storage bills, remediation to workers. We contacted a lwayer and filed a suit as the previous owner did not disclose anything they obviously hid. Whew.... the year I was at my mothers was very hard, to sleep in her bed as all our belongings except for clothing were packed in storages, we had those bills too. We were told to wait for the attornies, we waited long enough and decided to remediate and reconstruct before the lawsuit so we would not lose our home. We sold all our investment homes to get the money, plus any profits the company made. The entire year I lived at my parents home no problems, everyone was better. We did it, remediation successful and reconstruction done December 2004 to the tune of $120,000.00, we had a walmart christmas. I am told proving mold illness is impossible, my strokes may have been brought on by stress of the situation, doesn't all our suffering and loss count. My son does not go to college he works at circut city and is waiting for us to help finacially. I know alot about mold and we help people everyday who are going through the same thing, we lower prices and are sympathetic. Doesn't this count???
