Well I assume the assault on your child was reported to the
principal of the school, and that your child has received
medical attention for his physical injury. If not, that
should be done asap. Under the circumstances you described,
it is likely that the school would be vicariously liable for
the actions of the teacher -- it's employee. The first step,
if you want to pursue compensation for the injury to your
child, is to contact a personal injury lawyer in your
community asap. If this is a public school, there is likely
a short deadline to file a "notice of claim" in order to
perserve your rights. So consult an attorney immediately.
    Good luck.
P.S. Be careful about following the advice of people who post
on these kinds of sites. You need to speak with an attorney
    for legal advice.
