Pay an attorney $100 or so to draft a cease and desist
letter or do it yourself - it's a little scarier coming from
    an attorney's office.

I'm a little puzzled. You said they have been telling others
that I stole $250,000 from their company which they have no
evidence for.", not "I didn't do it." If you did do it and
they find the "evidence" to prosecute, you have bigger
    problems on your hands.
