Post: Being Banned from All Stores in Arizona

Posted by KJ on 9/27/06
I am not wealthy, and like to walk to the local stores,
including my local grocery store.
I use my own cart, which is rather distinctive, as not many
use one.
I just moved to a new area, when I went shopping many times.
All of a sudden, an alarm goes off prior to me leaving the
store. I unpack all of my stuff and sure enough, on the
bottom, there was a white box I didn't see that didn't go
through checkout.
I was really innocent of shoplifting and have too much of a
charachter/persona to do something like that. I very much
care about maintaining a dignity in the community, even
though I may be seen as poor.
They told me they would not call the police, but that I was
going to be banned from all of a (major chain) of food
stores in the state.
It was an unintended mistake.
It is no different than when a cashier or bagger forgets a
bag, or forgets to pack an item. But do they get
threatened to be arrested? Lose their job? Do they get
banned from all the stores in the state?
I just moved to this community and find it to be a nice
community. Now I feel like moving, I feel overly disgraced.
