Post: Unlawful ReposessionPosted by Kevin Williams on 2/27/08
My vehicle was repossesed on November 16th 2007, I had a
5year loan that went full term the only monies due were
$1600 and were the total of accumulated late fees over the
life of the loan, of which I was unaware until the loan
was moved to the mature loans dept which is when I was to
receive the title of the vehicle. I spoke to the people at
Americredit and told them this was not right and should be
illegal. After researching this scenario and finding out
what they should have done, I discovered several things
that should have happened that did not. #1 they never told
me where my vehicle was, to recover my possessions from
the vehicle. #2 I was never notified that my vehicle was
sent to auction for sale. #3 I was never given the
opportunity to recover my vehicle by being notified as to
the date and place of the auction. Something is just not
right here, and to top it all off they have a charge off
of $194.00 on my credit report after selling the vehicle.
Had it not been that I had a subcription to one of the
credit monitoring agencies, I would have never known. to
date I still have not received any correspondence
certified or otherwise from Americredit. Something is not
right here I just dont know exactly how to persue this.
