Post: Quitting Job After Workers Comp

Posted by Dan Rather not say on 11/06/11

Hey, so basically without going into a lot of detail, I hurt
myself at work, went to the doctors and have been on light
duty. My impression is that work believes I am faking it,
and either because they believe I'm faking it or because
they are just unpleasant people they've made working light
    duty difficult.

I've been told by coworkers that after 30 work days on light
duty I'm going out on comp. It's a union thing apparently.

After 5 years at this lousy job and being treated poorly
I've gotten to the point where I no longer want to work
there. Is there any problem with going on comp, or rather,
being put on comp by the company, then coming back a week or
two later, and immediately quitting? I'm talking basically
see their doctor, be released from my restrictions, then
    quitting without working a minute.

I guess my concern is that they're going to say that I'm
faking it to get a month and a half of light duty and a week
or two of comp before I quit. I just want to heal up before
I leave the place, after all I hurt myself on their time and
I want to be healed on their time, then leave the place and
never return. I am just a little concerned that they might
try to sue. Maybe it's a stupid concern, but does anyone
    have any advice?

    Thanks in advance.
