Post: 5% Whole Body_13% Arm Impairment rating_What can I expect?

    Posted by James on 6/04/05

I have received a 5% Whole Body and 13% Arm Impairment
rating. I am confused though. In Alabama I get 222 weeks
for an arm, but my injury was to my shoulder. Do I get 222
weeks times 5% or 13%? Perhaps the 5% is occupational
related, and if so what, if anything, do I get for that?
I am 48 years old, and have been working on aircraft
structures for 25 years. There is alot of overhead, awkward
positions, and appling a lot of upper body force involved
in my work. Even though I am at MMI, I still have alot of
pain in my shoulder when lifting my arm past shoulder
level. Therefore I feel I will not be as effective in my
work because I will have to rest my arm frequently due to
pain. Do they take this into account? I could get into a
different line of work, but with my background, I think I
wouldn't be able to get a job making the money I had made
    before.
Please clear up my confused mind. I have looked all over
the internet for information about this, but haven't found
any answers to my questions. I now turn to this forum for
    answers.
    Thank you in advance.
