Post: Florida WC Law

My son works for a small construction company in Florida that does everything under the table (no SS.WC, etc). This seems to be very common in Florida. I have several questions: 1) Is that against the law, both state and federal? 2) What would happen if he were serously injured? 3) If his employer as a subcontractor is unable to pay for injuries, is it possible to go after the contractor or homeowner for real damages? 4) Should I insist to my son that he quit this employer (whom he actually very much enjoys working-for)?
