Post: Do I need an atty yet?

I 46 yrs old and live in KS and I'm new to this nightmare of workman's comp. I work for a large corporation and 14 weeks ago I was in the backroom. I was standing by a cart of heavy aluminum patio furniture that was stacked improperly over 6' high. A team worker nudged the cart and the boxes fell ontop of my right foot. I ended up with a crushed foot injury, no broken bones but significant injury to the nerves and a sprained ankle. I'm doing Physical therapy 3 times a week, they are trying to desentize my foot and I am still not able to bear weight on it. The pain is not better, it radiates up my leg, and my foot turns purple and gets real cold. I've been told by my physical therapist that I may have a condition called RSD now and they are treating it that way. I'm still not back to work. Now 14 weeks later, my orthopedic specialist wants me to get an MRI to rule out damage that maybe fixed by surgery. Today, my workman's comp called and they are balking at the necessity of the MRI. To me it seems the logical thing to do and it's about time. They are also questioning me about my past history of fibromyalgia which has been in remission for almost 3 yrs. The last year I was working on my feet for 8 hours a day and then walking 4 miles every night. I was in better shape than I have been in years. I have been advised by others that have been thru the work comp nightmare to get an atty and knew at some point I may need to. I'm just wondering if this is the time to do it now? Is there a certain period of time one waits after an injury before seeking legal advice? I'm still getting weekly work comp checks but I'm fairly certain they are looking for a way to stop those.
