Post: Second opinion/wrist

Posted by Claire on 6/24/07

I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome pre-WC
claim by a renowned hand surgeon for my wrist pain. He said
no sugery indicated. My WC orthopedic surgeon says I need
surgery on the base thumb joint for ostio arthritus. I went
back to Renowned Surgeon who examined me and the X-ray and
he said the X-ray is clean, do NOT let anyone operate on my
hand. My pain continues. Do I have to get my "second"
opinion from a QME? Or can I go outside the WC system and
find a recommended surgeon so I can get an unbiased
    opinion?
