Post: Workers Compensation VS Personal Injury

Posted by Worn Out on 11/12/07

Question: I was hurt in the gift shop in the building where
I work. I was on break. My employer owns the building but
    not the store.

I had restrictions for the first month or so and then went
back to 100% at work. As long as my job does not change
because I can no longer write for periods of time.

I had a crush injury with a possible chip fracture. I could
not even wear the Imobilizer it was so painful. Per Hand Dr
no operation needed as good as it is going to get. Asked to
wait a year for more healing. The year is coming up and it
is not any better. Main problem is not at work it is
everyday living. I cannot do half the things I used to.
Nobody has helped me with that.

    Why is it workers compensation?
Does it turn into personal injury?
Should it have been personal injury?
I may be also be facing being laid off.

    Looking for answers/advice. Thanks
