    workers comp or unemployment are exempt basically from any
    garnishment, until you resume a regular income; they may file
    paperwork to take your state income tax refund. They cannot
    touch your federal return. If this happens you will receieve
    a document in the mail from your state telling you they will
    hold keep your refund to pay some or all of the debit; again
    this will only happen if the company requesting the money
    files the proper paperwork.
