Post: A little help, please

Posted by Annie on 3/09/08

I am in pain every single day and the epidurals in the
cervical spine, shots in the shoulder, PT and naproxen do
nothing for the pain. I have shoulder impingements in
both shoulders and buldging disks (2 different places) in
my neck. The Dr. can't operate on my neck due to
degeneration going on in my neck. I can't lift more than
10 pounds and I can not do any work above my head,
therefore my employer of 10 years can not accomodate my
restrictions (which I fully understand). There is no job
they can put me in. I have a college degree. I made
approximately $23 an hour plus bonuses each year. W/C
wants to settle for 104 weeks of payments and a few for
medical expenses and says I can probably get a job making
$12 an hour. My husband says I should not settle for less
than 4 times that. I am surprised they are trying to
settle so quick. They had first denied my clain and just
started paying 2 and 1/2 months ago after W/C sent me to
an IME. How many weeks is generally deemed fair? I can
not imagine it being easy for me to get a job with my
restrictions since I have no typing skills and can't turn
or bend my neck for any amount of time without more pain.
