Post: Settlement offered..only with my resignation??

Posted by Angii on 3/20/08

I have worked for a huge retailer for 4 years.
I have 3 workers Comp claims with this employer, 2 of
which were not my fault. The back strain was partly my own
    fault.
1st injury was to my neck, back and right knee.
2nd injury was lower back strain.
3rd injury was left shoulder, neck and left knee.

They have contacted my attorney and asked to settle, we
refused the 1st offer. They have come back and offered a
mere 1,000 more and my Attorney wants me to settle. Its
5,000 for all 3 claims. The retailer wants me to resign as
part of the settlement offer? Is this legal? I honestly do
not feel it is fair they only want to pay 5,000 and leave
me jobless? There are not many jobs in this area and due
to knee injuries my knees are bad enough that they need to
be replaced, limiting my ability to work most jobs. I am
going to be left with out a job and insurance..Does this
seem fair? Any suggestions are appreciated.. Thank you.
