All active members of the West Virginia State Bar are
required to complete a minimum of 24 mandatory continuing
legal education credit hours by June 30, 2006, and each
two years thereafter. These credits must be reported to
the MCLE Commission by July 31, 2006. At least three
credits must be in legal ethics, law office management,
substance abuse, and/or elimination of bias in the legal
profession. Fifty minutes of an approved MCLE activity is
equal to one credit, and up to 12 credits may be obtained
by the use of DVDs, CDs, audiocassettes, videotapes, or
online CLE. Individuals should keep private records of all
continuing legal education activities attended to
facilitate reporting.
WVCLE is a presumptively approved sponsor in California,
Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi,
Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina,
Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Pennsylvania credit is
also available. Therefore, each seminar presented by West
Virginia Continuing Legal Education qualifies for CLE
credit in those states. If you are a member of one of
these Bars, please notify us at the registration desk so
we may assist you in complying with your MCLE boards.
