Position Summary
TWB seeks an experienced trademark attorney to join its in-house legal department as an associate legal counsel with responsibilities focusing on the management of TWB’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement. Responsibilities will also include exposure to employment law compliance and general contract review. This attorney will work with a wide range of internal business clients to develop strategies and support business objectives and will consult with outside counsel.
Position Responsibilities
Provide expert legal counsel to the company in the area of domestic and international intellectual property rights, with an emphasis on trademark law.
Manage TWB’s intellectual property portfolio and, where appropriate, work closely with outside counsel to clear, prosecute and maintain trademark rights worldwide.
Enforce TWB’s intellectual property rights against third parties when necessary.
Establish ongoing relationships with internal business clients to develop strategies, discuss issues and gather necessary evidentiary support for trademark prosecution and trademark enforcement efforts worldwide.
Provide support and counsel to creative and product design, marketing, and merchandising teams.
Implement processes and procedures to support business objectives in the area of branding, product and creative design, marketing and merchandising.
Mnage and work closely with outside counsel on defensive litigation in the intellectual property, employment, and general litigation areas.
coordinate document and information collection for outside counsel in litigation matters and review and revise basic contracts and work with business partners on same.
Position Requirements
JD and at least three years of experience in trademark practice required; litigation experience and some corporate experience or exposure desirable; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to think strategically and provide critical analysis and risk assessment; strong organizational skills and project management capability; ability to juggle multiple projects of various types and to manage competing priorities and deadlines ability to work independently and as a member of a team
