Contracts Coordinator, Business and Legal Affairs (National Geographic Chan

The National Geographic Channel is looking for a Contracts Coordinator in the Business and Legal Affairs Department. Position reports to the SVP of Business and Legal Affairs. The department is responsible for negotiating, preparing, and managing all contracts for NGC, including program acquisition, marketing, and operations; handles day-to-day joint venture and corporate responsibilities, and program and footage clearance for ancillary exploitation. This position is located in Washington, DC.

The Contract Coordinator's job responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
* Aiding in the creation of programming contracts, exhibits, and freelance agreements for NGC internal projects (Narrators, Editors, Writers, Graphic Artists, Composers, and Production Personnel Agreements).
* Tracking and maintaining a working knowledge/database of all contracts.
* Negotiating footage license and sales agreements (under close supervision) and clearing program and footage rights for PR, marketing, promotion and domestic and international sales.
* Assist to input, track and analyze rights data into the program rights database and will assist in title clearance procedures.

Job Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree required.
* 1-2 years of contracts management or business affairs experience preferred.
* Some negotiating and rights analysis experience preferred.
* Good verbal, written communication, and presentation skills, as well as good interpersonal skills are required.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, strong analytical skills.
* Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook are needed.
* Familiarity with rights management data base systems preferred.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
* Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining effective business relationships is necessary.
* The ability to multitask and work effectively under changing priorities and daily time constraints is required.
