The Chief Compliance Officer of Group Insurance, a leading provider of group life, disability and long-term care insurance, seeks someone with current compliance experience and in-depth knowledge of the group insurance business, including familiarity with institutional sales and an intimate understanding of insurance regulation, securities laws and the regulation of variable insurance products.

This position’s objective is to provide compliance support to key activities and leadership within the group insurance compliance organization. Included will be on-going compliance related support and advice on day-to-day activities as well as new initiatives. In addition, the incumbent will assist in the design of oversight and monitoring of business activities to ensure they are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as Company policy.

The incumbent will also be expected to engage in activities including, but not limited to, training, communication and oversight of corrective actions. In addition this position requires parntering with the law department on a regular basis to analyze changes to regulatory requirements and proactively manage regulatory developments and changes.

Together with business management, the incumbent will oversee the monitoring of sales practices and other activities and assist in the development and maintenance of regulatory policies and procedures.

Principal Responsibilities
· Promote, protect and set the tone to reflect the Company’s standards for ethics, integrity and honesty.
· Work with all levels of Group Insurance management to ensure that appropriate supervisory processes and controls are established and documented.
· Develop and deliver compliance related training.
· Assist management with identifying and resolving compliance issues.
· Distribute and review compliance related data with management on a regular basis and ensure appropriate corrective action has been taken. Escalate issues to senior management as appropriate.
· Assist regulators, auditors and business unit management with regulatory exams and inquiries and audits.
· Review, analyze, and follow-up on relevant compliance inspection and audit issues as well as compliance metric reports. Oversee management’s handling of various compliance issues and provide guidance on decision making where necessary.
· Review and clarify compliance processes for improved effectiveness, efficiency, and ease of doing business.
· Provide Compliance support for new product and other initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree
· Ten plus years of compliance experience, primarily related to the insurance business; institutional sales and variable product experience a plus
· Proven communication, analytical and project management skills
· Strong relationship management and leadership skills including experience in dealing with senior management
· Ability to reach sound judgments and act quickly under tight deadlines
· Experience in staff management
· NASD registrations Series 6 and 26 or Series 7 and 24
