EXPORT TECHNOLOGY MANAGER - CT (East Hartford)

Serve as a member of the Pratt & Whitney Legal Services Export/Import Group with responsibility for the proactive development and implementation of strategies, processes, standard work, work instructions, and training to ensure P&W's ongoing compliance with all export laws, regulations and UTC/P&W policies related to the export of technology, technical data, commodities (including products and parts), software, and services (items).

The Export Technology Manager will actively participate in ACE (continuous improvement) process improvement activities led by the Export/Import Group and will develop common process approaches for use by all P&W organizations and disciplines, including the areas of classification, organization of export classification information for shared use to minimize/eliminate redundant classifications, record keeping, technical data marking, export licensing applications, and other areas.

Significantly, the selected candidate will interact with P&W Engineering, Global Supply Chain Management, Military and Commercial Programs, and other P&W organizations to understand P&W's products, technology, software, and services (including third party items) and to assist the organizations with determining the export classification and export authority for exporting those items.

This requires a technical knowledge of the items that P&W uses or produces and performing a regulatory analysis to determine the appropriate classification and export authority for each item. The Export Technology Manager will provide internal customers with day-to-day guidance in this and all other export compliance subject matter areas.

The selected candidate will also coordinate with P&W organizations to help them develop, implement, and manage tailored export compliance systems, processes, and procedures using ACE tools. This includes strategic identification of compliance risks, conducting risk assessments, and assisting with the development of plans to eliminate and/or mitigate risks.

Successful execution of these responsibilities will require advanced training in export control laws, regulations, and policies; cross-functional leadership and support of P&W Business Area Export Representatives (BAERs); close and frequent coordination with all P&W organizations responsible for ensuring export compliance; and strong project management of a variety of export compliance related initiatives and work efforts.

As a member of the Export/Import Group, the Export Technology Manager will assist group members and other Legal Services staff with projects and daily activities as necessary, including the preparation of Commerce and State Department export license applications and agreements as required to support all P&W organizations and their international programs.

The selected candidate will also help maintain and revise both desk and company procedures related to export compliance, edit and maintain appropriate export compliance website content, provide one-on-one export compliance guidance to internal P&W customers, and develop and conduct P&W export training.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Engineering or Technical BS Degree w/ 10+ yrs of experience
Engineering or Technical MS Degree w/ 7 yrs of experience

Qualifications include technical familiarity with P&W's products and services, basic training in export control, demonstrated cross-functional leadership skills. Familiarity with U.S. export and import regulations including, but not limited to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and U.S. Customs regulations is preferred, but not required.

Candidate must have excellent analytical, project management, interpersonal, leadership, and verbal and written communication skills. Must be a team player, possess multi-tasking abilities, have a client focus, and work effectively in a time sensitive environment.
