Responsibilities:
Represents Safeco insureds in 3rd party cases or Safeco in first party cases regarding enforcement of contractual rights under a policy.
Responsible for developing the legal file for quick and fair resolution, including gathering information needed to evaluate the claim, obtaining the necessary expert opinions, conducting discovery and representing the client in mediations, depositions, arbitrations and trial.
Works closely with the Casualty claims departments to get information needed to evaluate and negotiate case to resolution or trial.
Conducts legal research and authors legal opinions.
Responsible for filing and arguing necessary dispositive motions and conducting jury trials.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have seven or more years experience in Insurance Defense and/or Civil Litigation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Experience in insurance coverage and bad faith law preferred.
Significant civil jury trial experience desired.
Bar membership is required.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
