Marketing / Regulatory Attorney
Position Description and Key Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced attorney with an entrepreneurial spirit to work in fast-paced, fun, start-up environment. Specific responsibilities include:
• Assist in fundraising and M&A negotiations.
• Guide Product Marketing on claims substantiation, messaging, trade marketing, branding, packaging and product labeling issues.
• Review content and intellectual property on packaging, advertising, and promotional materials for accuracy and supportability in product claims and for compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies
• Prepare and process various agreements and other related documents, including product development, distribution, licensing, services, production, marketing, and sales agreements
• Provide day-to-day business and intellectual property law support
• Manage negotiations with vendors, independent contractors, production hires
• Provide guidance to and manage external legal counsel on specific assignments, review preliminary advice, provide internal recommendations and efficiently resolve business and legal issues
• Design, recommend and implement new processes and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity and ensure legal compliance throughout the company
• Provide guideline and reference docs to internal teams to assure conformity and consistency in application of business and legal policies and practices
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested

• Ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as external to the corporation, with a high level of professionalism
• Excellent analytical skills, with a strong ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze legal advice and apply legal advice to business needs.
• Good work ethic, well-organized and detail-oriented. Must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters
• Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements
• Must be capable of working discretely with highly confidential and proprietary data
• Excellent interpersonal skills, dynamic and highly team-oriented. Sense of humor and commitment to professionalism are required
Requirements
• Undergraduate and law degrees from well-regarded institutions
• Minimum 3 years experience as an attorney in a corporation or law firm
• Essential requirement: Familiarity with regulatory compliance matters, particularly FTC, FCC, FDA, and general knowledge of practices and procedures within the interactive and consumer direct response marketing industries
• Experience with a startup or entrepreneurial environment
