Twentieth Century Fox is seeking a Vice President of Legal Affairs for its Legal Rights Clearance Department.
The department's responsibilities include:
*Review and analysis of all contracts for motion pictures and television programs produced or acquired by Fox, including Fox library pictures, and input summaries of distribution rights and restrictions for those productions into database used by Fox personnel worldwide.
*Administering the collection of copyright royalties payable to Fox under the laws of the US and certain foreign countries, primarily in connection with the cable/satellite retransmission of television broadcasts of movies and television programs owned by Fox and with home video sales of Fox product.
*For any acquisition, administering the delivery of legal documentation and film elements to Fox, to ensure that Fox obtains all materials required for the release of said acquisition.
The Vice President of Legal Affairs will oversee and supervise this department; other duties include:
Advisement as to ancillary rights for specific library pictures and unproduced projects (e.g., remake and sequel rights, stage rights)
*Negotiation and drafting of contracts for re-acquisition or extension of rights, allowing Fox to continue distribution of library pictures, or remake library pictures
*Interfacing with executives and outside counsel on deals regarding stage rights for Fox pictures
*Maintaining (and revising, as necessary) form rights acquisition agreements used by theatrical production attorneys
*Providing chain-of-title analysis and advice for projects Fox is considering acquiring
*Drafting acquisition and other rights-related agreements, as assigned
*Supervising handling of WGA re-acquisitions of original screenplays by writers.
