Job Description

The Assistant City is to assist the City Attorney in presentation of the City of Pine Bluff in a wide range of legal matters, prosecute misdemeanors and violations and render professional legal advice and advocacy to city employees, officers and officials.  The Assistant City Attorney interviews complainants, laws enforcement officers and citizens and determines course of action required, and prepares necessary documentation and file charges as indicated.  The Assistant City Attorney also reviews and signs off on affidavits or other information drafted by the Legal Assistant, subpoena medical records necessary for prosecution of battery or driving while intoxicated offenses.  The Assistant City Attorney performs trial preparation, prosecutes all misdemeanor and violation offenses and violation offenses investigated by police department or brought by citizens and communicates with court staff and defense attorneys, defendants, law enforcement officers and witnesses regarding trial settings and continuances.

Jurist Doctorate and three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of two years of management experience.
