I am a proud member of americans who enjoy my 2nd amendment
rights, and posess a Concealed Carry Weapons permit issued
in Michigan. I am prone to exercise my right to bear arms
openly in hot weather, and was shopping in a grocery store
(Meijers) when I was detained, cuffed and searched,
relieved of my weapon, and removed to a private security
office. I was released after much discussion regarding the
Bill of Rights. Three days later, again shopping in
Meijers, I was stopped by the policce and asked to
accompany them to the office again. Relived of my weapon,
searched, and then told by store personnel that I am banned
from all Meijer stores and property, nationwide. The next
day I was arrested for weapons offenses/other, and booked,
without a Miranda Warning. I was not interrogated by the
arresting officer, however I was asked by the booking
officer to explain exactly what I had done. I merely
said, "exercised my rights under the 2nd amendment. I have
carried in public for many weeks since my CCW was issued,
and never had a proble. I feel that it is unfortunate that
ignorance of our rights and the law, threatens the very
fabric of this great nation. We must all stand to defend
those rights - all of them - wether we agree with them or
not. We are americans, and while not perfect the most free
nation on the earth.
