From what you've told me it sounds like you will prevail in court.
But I don't know all the details so that is not a legal opinion.

Save every scrap of paper you ever got from the landlord and take it
to court with you. Maybe take pictures of the place when he
inspects it and get him to tell you if anything is not to his
satisfaction as far as the place being clean and no damage, etc.
