Can South Carolina county sheriff disseminating sex offender information that is completely false? South Carolina sheriff disseminating sex offender information that is completely false. Sheriff is suggesting offender had been convicted UNLAWFUL CONTACT WITH A MINOR and SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN-DISSEMINATION OF PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOTAPES, COMPUTER DEPICTIONS, AND FILMS. Offender has not been convicted of either. Although a civilian employee provided the information, the information is being disseminated on a website not owned by the sheriffs office or SLED. This information advises the public the offender has molested children and he has not been accused, charged or convicted of doing so.
