Post: Misdemeanor Arrest

Posted by Marie G Huntley on 2/01/07
I was arrested in 2000 during a family misunderstanding where I was the actual victim and I was stabbed in the process. I took the charge because I didn't want the person that instigated the argument to go to jail. I was taken to jail and the next morning in magistrate court I was released. The charge was a misdemeanor battery that was thrown out and dispositioned as mutual combat. I have my bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and I tried to get a job as a Detention Deputy Sheriff and I was denied indefinitely to apply for this position by BSO/Dept. of Corrections because of this reason and was told that on the internet that actual disposition was probation. I never served probation at all. How can this be. I feel like my degrees are in vain now esp as a mother of four kids that is still in school working on her MBA in Business. Can you give me any advice as to what I can do???
